On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the Palais Garnier was transformed into a stage of pure elegance and sophistication, the perfect setting for the long-awaited presentation of Chanel's Fall/Winter 2024-2025 haute couture collection. Under the direction of the fashion design studio of the fashion house, this collection, designed after the departure of creative director Virginie Viard, succeeding Karl Lagerfeld in 2019, masterfully captured the brand's historical essence.

Among those present, personalities such as Amelia Gray Hamlin, a prominent figure in the fashion world and Chanel's muse, stood out, who dazzled the most recent models at the iconic Palais Garnier. This event not only marked a new chapter in fashion history, but it also reaffirmed the intimate ties between Chanel and dance, a symbolic union evidenced by continued support as Grand Patron of the Paris National Opera since 2023.

The guests were greeted in a luxurious setting, with red velvet seats strategically placed around the auditorium, creating a theatrical atmosphere that perfectly complemented the pieces exhibited. The space design, conceived by Christophe Honoré, not only highlighted the architectural beauty of the Palais Garnier, but also offered spectators a new perspective on this cultural landmark.

In the Chanel ateliers at 31, rue Cambon, artistic traditions are reinterpreted and refined, echoing the standards of excellence that characterize both fashion and dance. This commitment to innovation and tradition establishes Chanel not only as a leader in haute couture, but also as a guardian of the ties between art, fashion and culture.

A POST-VIARD CHANEL

Virginie Viard, a long-time figure in the collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld since joining the house in 1987, took charge of Chanel's fashion collections following the death of the iconic German designer in 2019. During his tenure, Viard not only presided over a period of historic increase in sales, driven by the explosion of demand for luxury products during the Covid-19 pandemic, but he also led the company to impressive revenues of 19.7 billion dollars in 2023, marking an exponential growth of more than 75% compared to 2018.

At 62, Viard not only managed a vast fashion empire that includes coveted handbags, fashion jewelry, footwear, and more, but he also revitalized ready-to-wear, increasing its sales to 2.5 times more than in 2018, according to Chanel. Keeping Lagerfeld's legacy alive, she subtly refined iconic items such as tweed jackets, making them lighter and more flexible, without losing the essence that makes them desired, with pieces costing up to 20,000 dollars.

At the last fashion show, as the models posed for the final photo on the steps of the Palais Garnier, it became clear that Virginie Viard would not give her last bow to the public there.
