The exhibition, located in Augusta Park, in downtown São Paulo, will present works that address the connection between human and non-human species, including fauna, flora, and minerals, among others. The event is expected to inspire profound reflections on the interaction between different forms of life and the environments they inhabit.
The thirteenth edition of the 3M Art Exhibition will bring the works of the artists Mônica Ventura and Karola Braga to Augusta Park, in São Paulo, between October 26 and November 24. The artists' projects explore sensory, cosmological, and racial themes, providing visitors with a unique experience.
The 3M Art Show, recognized as one of the most important and lasting events in the Brazilian contemporary art scene, is produced and designed by Elo3. The event offers artists from all regions of the country the opportunity to develop new commissioned works. In this edition, the theme “Interspecies: Crossing Worlds” will be explored under the curatorship of Aline Ambrosio, architect and researcher of contemporary Brazilian art. Ambrosio highlights the relevance of the curatorial project for today's society.
The 3M Art exhibition will present the work “Raia”, by visual artist and designer Mônica Ventura. Graduated in industrial design from the Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP), Ventura is internationally recognized for her narratives that explore femininity and raciality, addressing the psychosocial complexity of Afro-descendant women in various contexts.
Another highlight of the exhibition is the project “Hanging Garden”, by Karola Braga. Born in São Caetano do Sul, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, Braga is a master's student in visual poetics from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a bachelor's degree in fine arts from FAAP. His work is characterized by the application of elements linked to the olfactory sphere, using smells loaded with cultural symbolism to evoke memories, a striking feature of his presentations.
Mônica Ventura was awarded in 2023 at Foco ArtRio and nominated for the Pipa award in the same year. He participated in exhibitions in Inhotim (MG), São Paulo Cultural Center, São Paulo Museum of Modern Art (Masp), Pastos Gallery, in Buenos Aires, and Ford Foundation, in New York.
Karola Braga participated in Desert X AlUla, with a work commissioned by the Royal Commission for AlUla in Saudi Arabia. She was nominated for the Pipa 2024 award and selected for the 27th Paço das Artes Project Season. He exhibited at the 13th Mercosur Biennial in Brazil and was a finalist in the Sadakichi Experimental Work with Smells category at the 9th edition of the Art and Olfaction Awards, held in Los Angeles. In addition, she was nominated for the CIFO Grants & Commissions Program 2020 award in Miami and for the 2019 Bloom Weihenstephaner Art Award in Cologne.
