Figma is doubling down on artificial intelligence to occupy strategic territory in digital product development: the connection point between design, collaboration and code. After launching an AI agent built into its collaborative canvas, the company is now moving forward with Figma Make, a tool capable of turning prompts and ideas into functional prototypes with code.

The new feature lets teams work on local codebases with AI support, visual editing and workflows connected to Git and pull requests. More than an update, the move reveals a clear strategy: bringing AI agents into the environments where product teams already work. Figma is betting that the next phase of software creation will depend less on handoffs between departments and more on continuous flows, in which designers, developers, PMs and agents collaborate within the same context.
