At Paris Moda Week, Jonathan Anderson presented his first womenswear collection for Dior, opening a new phase for the house with a show that crossed history, cinema and technology.
The spectacle began with a question projected onto an inverted pyramid: Do you dare enter the House of Dior? On the screen, a film by the British documentary maker Adam Curtis mixed images of the label's old shows with scenes from horror classics of the 1960s and fragments of the history of its previous directors, from Yves Saint Laurent to Maria Grazia Chiuri. At the end, the video seemed to be sucked into a shoebox, a metaphor created by Anderson to speak of memory, fear and reinvention.

At the centre of the runway, installed in the Tuileries Gardens, the setting reflected that idea of transition. The inverted pyramid hovered over a space of grey marble, where models crossed light and shadow wearing pieces that combined references from haute couture with everyday codes. The iconic Bar jacket appeared reduced to childlike proportions, while dresses structured in tulle and lace opened into shapes recalling wings. The contrast between tailoring and transparency, rigidity and fluidity set the tone of the collection.
In an interview, Anderson described the process as a dialogue between harmony and tension. Drawing on decades of Dior's history, he said he did not want to break with the past, but to open the box and reorganise what is inside it. That symbolic gesture of reorganisation ran through the whole show, from the skirts in architectural taffeta to the micro-embroidery that revisited the artisanal tradition of the house's ateliers.
The collection also marked the start of a new strategic chapter for Dior. As the first creative director to lead the menswear and womenswear lines at the same time, Anderson proposes a transversal reading of fashion. The same sculptural eye that redefines volumes at Loewe appears here applied to the house's inheritance, bringing experiment and cultural heritage closer together.

With a cast that included Charlize Theron, Rosalía, Jisoo and Brigitte Macron in the audience, the debut was received with a standing ovation. Anderson's Dior does not take refuge in the past, it reprogrammes it, turning the archive into a field of experiment. Between cinema, architecture and the gesture of sewing, the show reaffirms that fashion, seen as a language, remains one of the most powerful ways of thinking about time.
