Giuseppe di Morabito FW25

During Milan Fashion Week in early March, Giuseppe di Morabito presented his Fall/Winter 2025 collection with an image that condensed present and future. The humanoid Ameca, considered one of the most advanced in the world, was woken live at the start of the show. She recited a passage from Sartor Resartus (1834), Thomas Carlyle's text on clothes and the human condition. The actress Amelia Gray then entered the runway and began the physical part of the presentation.

The collection, titled Alone With The Stars, alternated between silhouettes drawn from antiquity and technical clothing solutions. Corsets with flowers cast in metal, crinolines reinterpreted as tailoring, blazers moulded onto the body. The colour range followed earthy and neutral tones, connecting ruins and natural landscapes.

At the end, Ameca returned to the scene for a mirrored gesture with the model Yasmin Wijnaldum. A moment of interaction between human and machine that suggested continuity rather than contrast.

Giuseppe di Morabito was born in 1992 in Molochio, a village in Calabria. He grew up watching local seamstresses and tailors, and developed an interest in cut, pattern making and sacred art. His first collection used images of baroque frescoes as prints on streetwear. In 2014 he founded his label and began creating collections based on traditional techniques, such as crochet and corsetry, folded into a contemporary aesthetic.

With backing from the Style Capital fund, the label gained international ground and joined the portfolio of retailers such as Harrods, Selfridges, Printemps, MyTheresa and La Rinascente.

The label works with clean-lined tailoring, structured fabrics, corsets with internal boning and dresses with draping and crystals. The pieces combine classical elements with current cuts. The iconography of goddesses such as Venus appears repeatedly, not as theme, but as formal basis.

FW25 placed Di Morabito in the debate on fashion and artificial intelligence. Ameca did not appear as opposition, but as part of the show. The meeting between model and robot marked a moment of transition. Technology was presented as language, not as effect.

The show points to a kind of fashion that does not abandon its references, but reorganises them to think the present. A present where past and future share the same space.
