SP-Arte 2026 brings together 180 exhibitors and expands its focus on design

The SP-Arte arrives at its 22nd edition between April 8 and 12, 2026, at the Pavilhão da Bienal in São Paulo. The event brings together 180 exhibitors, including galleries, studios, publishers, and institutions, consolidating its role as one of the main meetings in the artistic circuit in Latin America.

Created by Fernanda Feitosa, the fair has built a consistent position over the years by connecting artists, collectors, and professionals in the sector. In recent cycles, it has incorporated design in a more structured way, following a change in public interest and in the market itself, which now views furniture and objects as part of the cultural field.

In 2026, this movement intensifies, with 64 design exhibitors, including names such as LinBrasil, Bossa Furniture, Bref, and Ulysses de Santi. The main novelty is Design NOW, an area dedicated to independent Brazilian studios, curated by Livia Debbane and Patricia Dranoff. The space features small-scale productions and material investigations. Debbane also signs the exhibition “Existe uma árvore”, which proposes a reading of Brazilian furniture based on the species of wood used.

The programming includes meetings at the Arena Iguatemi, curated by Marcello Dantas, and conversations at the Palco SP-Arte, organized by Tamara Perlman. At the same time, the fair maintains its international presence with galleries such as Galería Sur, Continua, RGR, and Piero Atchugarry, in addition to participants from Europe and Latin America.

The expansion of design within SP-Arte points to a broader change. There is a growing interest in authorial pieces, experimental processes, and small-scale productions. This scenario indicates a shift in focus from industrial to more independent practices, closer to art and material research.

In addition to the programming, the fair also includes incentive initiatives, such as the Prêmio Arauco SP-Arte, the Prêmio Artefacto SP-Arte, and the Prêmio MECA SP-Arte ABACT, which offers an artistic residency at the Instituto MECA. These projects help to increase the visibility of new names and create connections outside the country.
